How To Make Sweet Shells-Gavvalu


Sweet Shells or Gavvalu or sweet gavvalu is very special in Andhra, especially in the festival season. Mostly it is special sweet in Diwali. Here is the step by step making process.

Ingredients:


1 Kg Maida
1/4 Kg Bombay Ravva
100grams Ghee or Dalda
3/4 Kg Sugar
Oil as required for deep fry
Salt as required
Gavvalu Maker

Preparation:


1. Heat the pan and add the bombay ravva to it. Saute and fry till they become light golden color. Remove it from the pan.
2. Switch off the stove. Take the another tawa, pour the maida and add a pinch of salt for taste. Mix the salt and maida.
3. Then add the fried bombay ravva, mix well, Then add the dalda or ghee to that mixture. Mix well and also add some water to make the mixture into smooth dough.
4. Mix the whole mixture until they become smooth dough.
5. Then make the very small balls from that dough.
6. By using gavvalu maker press the balls and repeat the same process until the balls finished.
7. Heat the tawa with oil. When the oil heated, add the making gavalu to it and fry until they become light golden color then reove from the pan.
8. Then repeat the same procedure.
9. Place the kadai on the stove add the sugar and required water. Switch on the stove. And boil till they become lightly thicken then remove from the stove.
10. Then add the fried shells to the sugar and mix well. Then transfer to another plate.
11. Finally, the sweet and taste gavvalu is ready.
